I got a lot from this talk! Thanks Sope and Dami for taking the time to share and discuss. I do think it’s an issue that many find hard to discuss. Many reasons can be given for this including that people don’t voice it out (which is the very nature of depression), we feel it makes us weak to say we are not always at our best. But really, it’s almost impossible on our own to go through this world without feeling down… Sometimes the only solace I find is that God did not waste His time to create me. He said it was a deliberate plan when He formed us in the womb, making us in a beautiful and wonderful way. Sope mentioned that at a point she thought should I fight? And I’m I worth fighting for? That’s deep! It made me think of a song I heard a while back that assures us that YES! We are worth fighting for, cause Jesus thought we were worth dying for! (Here is the link to the song: https://youtu.be/jlj2G1pvKTw).
We all go through something, your fight is different from my fight, but together we are strong. Like Dammy said, we can show tough love, and not just be tough. We are not called to police people battling with this but to help them in love see that they matter! More of this please!
I end with the word of God from a friend of mine who held on to this while battling cancer. He had every right to be down and to give up, but he would keep reminding me of Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Don’t ever give up on yourself, cause Jesus has not given up on you!
