Hay Friend, how are ya?

After having an awesome church service on Easter Sunday, (which you can listen to here ) the love of God is moving. I’m going to have to write about why it was so significant Jesus died. I mean, really explain it in the way I have understood it. It’s a beautiful thing in which need to be shared and I feel it’s not talked about enough. But, today is not about that… lol got sidetracked. I’m going to briefly talk about the love Jesus brought that fulfilled the law. I swear, during my quiet time with the Lord, the Holy Spirit just dropped this knowledge on me. I had to write it down, and is still dropping some, in real time! This of course is one side to looking at  this topic, but I feel the Holy Spirit gave it to me in such a way, anybody could understand why love is so important and fulfills the law.

Romans 13:8-10

Love Fulfills God’s Requirements

Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.”[a] These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b]10 Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

L O V E

After reading chapter 13, the verses that stood out to me the most were those two.

Jesus fulfilled the law because he showed love. Love sums up the commandments of the Old Testament. Therefore, since he showed love to us, even though we did not deserve it, we should be able to do the same. He was able to encompass the Old Testament in his being and give a physical representation on how to live a holy life, all by fearing God and loving his neighbor even more than himself. What examples did he bring about that show what true love is, that fulfill the commandments/ law? This is what I learned, by his example:

Love comes in various forms. Through kindness, serving others, being truthful (even if it hurts). Love allows you to make your own choices (free will), its patient, does not tally your wrong doings. Basically, its fresh everyday. Love is not always accepting of people’s actions but is accepting of people. Shows tolerance.

With love we don’t seek to destroy others. Love is straight forward. It shows us our wrongs but is there to build us afterwards (which the law did not do before). This is the model after the lord Jesus Christ we should follow. This is true love. (Read 1 Corinthians 13 for a more in depth description of how the bible describes love).

Humans are not capable of producing this love by on our own, due to human nature, which produces sin (ex: bad intentions, negative actions, anger, tearing people down etc.) Therefore, we call on the name of Jesus to give us strength to love like this.

Love Is Filled With Action

Love is actions, not purely feelings. You physically serve your neighbor. Your feelings don’t physically serve them. Even if the way you serve them is by prayer, it’s a form of love in which you acted upon. Feelings do not justify “the law”. You cannot feel you have done right, you must act. Jesus did not quote the law, or just plainly speak. He is a man of action. He fed his people, he prayed for his people, he taught his people, he had compassion and acted on his compassion to bring joy to his people. Therefore, his actions, produced love, which fulfilled majority of the law to love one another was fulfilled.

Jesus at the end of the day did this to fulfill the first part of the law. Which says to love the Lord your God with everything you got! If you love him, reverence him, trust me, you will understand the importance of this love in which we should pour out to others. This is a commandment. It will become attributes in which you will strive to have because we know God is all about his people.

John 21:15-17

15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?[a]

“Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.”

“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.

16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”

“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

Think about it! All that we do, all that we are is to serve the Lord. All the gifts and talents we gain, are to be poured out onto others, as if onto the lord. Life is not  purely for your gain.  If you are stuck on what your purpose is, start here. You will inevitably love people because you love the lord. Facts, no printer. Share this with someone who you think this would bring some clarification to. Especially if homie does not understand love, slide this in the DM’s.

Matthew 22:36-40 says:

36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Bye Friend!
